1000 Year Old Shiva Temple Discovered During Excavations, Check Out These Photos

Ujjain: Shiva temple emerged in excavations 35 km from Ujjain town of MP. In fact, due to the excavations at Kalmoda on Badnagar Road in Ujjain, the Shila Lekh architectural block of the 1000 year old temple of Parmar and Shiva, Vishnu, Nandi Jalhari came out in a fragmented state. Due to excavations that started two years ago, it has been speculated that there may be a sanctum sanctorum here. Subsequently, a team from the Department of Archeology in Bhopal carried out an investigation and excavations began under the supervision of the Head of Archaeological Research, Dr. Dhurvendra Jodha. In this, the team of experts obtained the sanctum sanctorum. A large Shivalinga was also found.

The same archaeological research officer Dr. Dhurvendra Jodha said that the length of the temple discovered due to the excavations was around 15 meters. There must have been a huge temple at that time. He said excavation works in Kalmoda village in Ujjain had been going on for a year but had to be stopped due to the second wave of Corona.

The archaeological research officer said that after the work started, the sanctum sanctorum of Shiva was found in the temple. It is the remnant of the Temple of the Carpet of Parmar. The entire remains in the Jaldhari, fractured state, Kalash, Amla, Amal Sarika, part Stambh, Lata Vallabha, architectural block of Konak temple have been found through excavations. Excavation work is still in progress. Dr. Dhuvendra Singh Jodha, research officer of the Wakankar Institute of Archaeological Research in Bhopal, said that two years ago we received a village-to-village survey here. In this survey, when we first came here, we found remains here. After inspection, it was decided that we had to do some excavation work here. Then, when the excavation work was carried out with the permission of the commissioner, the remains of the temple appeared.
