$30 Million Sai Balaji Temple Coming to New Jersey

Washington, April 6 (PTI): A large temple dedicated to Sai Balaji with a cultural center and a gigantic 30-foot statue of Hanuman is being built in a New Jersey town at an estimated cost of over $30 million of dollars.

Hanuman’s statue inside his sprawling 12-acre Om Sri Balaji Temple campus would be visible from all over Monroe Township in New Jersey.

According to the 2020 census, the township has a population of around 50,000. In recent years, the township has experienced a rapid growth rate in its Native American population. It is estimated that more than 6,000 American Indians live in the city. After its completion within the next few years, the temple is expected to cost over $30 million.

During a temple outreach and fundraising event over the weekend at the newly built campus in Monroe, temple officials announced that the first phase of the project is complete and a grand opening “Prana Prathistha” (installation of deities) is scheduled for the week of June 13-19, a press release said on Tuesday.

“Phase 1 includes 10 classrooms, a kitchen, a dining room and a large prayer room. Their goal for last week’s event was to raise awareness of the newly constructed temple, bring communities together and most importantly the next generation,” said Rajendra Dichpally, Spokesperson for Sai Balaji Temple.

In his opening speech, its founder, Suryanarayana Maddula, shared his childhood dream of building a temple with a community education center. Temple authorities acquired 12 acres of land near Monroe about 10 years ago, according to a news release.

According to Maddula, the main mission of the Om Sri Sai Balaji temple is to meet the spiritual needs of all families and to celebrate all occasions, festivals and rituals.

All plans and architectural designs for the temple have been approved by the Monroe Township Planning Board. The Groundbreaking Ceremony of Om Sri Sai Balaji Temple was held on June 26, 2016. PTI LKJ RAX RAX
