EMS Shift Supervisor Job – Baylor Scott & White EMS

JOB SUMMARY

The Supervisor, Emergency Medical Services, provides direct management of EMS personnel for the assigned shift, including operational and clinical supervision of assigned units and personnel; leadership and supervision of assigned personnel and evaluation of assigned units and personnel. This position will also be responsible for providing patient care.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES OF THE ROLE

  • Manages the daily activities of EMS personnel for an assigned shift. Coordinates staffing, coverage and procedures to ensure facility needs are met in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Evaluates and coordinates special events and standby requests for ground ambulance operations. Manages system resources, effectively monitoring system status and pending active service call capacities to ensure optimal response to service calls.
  • Responds to calls for service to provide emergency medical care when needed and responds to non-emergency calls to provide patient assessment and treatment. Triages calls based on system status and other appropriate factors.
  • Selects the most appropriate treatment and intervention plans based on patient needs and circumstances. Adapts assessment, treatment, and transport plans and interventions based on the unique circumstances of the patient and environment, demonstrating ability to effectively implement the treatment plan.
  • Participates in human resources related activities, including interviewing, screening, educating, training, supervising, evaluating, advising and recommending termination of assigned employees.
  • Partners with Human Resources to identify staff members who require compliance documentation. Collaborates to ensure compliance with federal, state and local authorities regarding specific requirements related to EMS services.
  • Serves as Incident Commander or Medical Sector Commander. Institutes the command structure correctly and under appropriate circumstances, using command procedures correctly and effectively.
