From Kaddukhal to the revered Surkanda Devi temple in Tehri district of Uttarakhand, cable car services were introduced and inaugurated on Sunday by the Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami. To the temple deity Siddhpeeth Maa Surkanda Devi, the BJP leader, after launching the cable car service, also offered his prayers.

This new ropeway service brings respite to devotees as well as tourists as they can now have Maa Surkanda Devi’s darshan without trudging on foot for 2 hours. Thanks to this cable car service, they can now get to the temple quickly.

Furthermore, the cable car service will benefit Uttarakhand’s tourism sector and also create more job opportunities, the CM said.

“The cable car project is a major means of non-polluting transport for commuters and tourists. Measures are taken by the state government for the construction of various cable car projects in the districts under the Central Parvatmala program. Various adventure water sports are practiced in the giant lake which spans 42 square kilometers in Tehri district. Other tourism-related activities are planned in this lake,” he added.

CM Dhami also explained that he had spoken to the District Magistrate, Tehri, to start construction works for a helipad in the area.

Tourism Minister Satpal Maharaj, MP Dhanaulti Pritam Singh Panwar and MP Tehri Kishore Upadhyay were also present at the inauguration ceremony. Later they also offered prayers at the temple with CM Dhami.
