Kundapur, March 27: KV Sridhara Adiga, Priest of Kollur Temple has released a clarification on Pradosha Pooja alias Salaam Mangalarati who is offered to Kollur Temple Goddess Mookambika over which controversy has been created by VHP.

In his statement, Adiga said, “In the morning and afternoon, Pradosha Pooja is being held at Shree Kshethra Kollur Mookambika Temple. This is a very meaningful pooja. Pradosha Kaala is quite important. There is a belief that all gods and goddesses will be present during Pradosha Kaala. This is why the pujas that are conducted during Pradosha Kaala are unique. Meanwhile, we offer pooja to Devi. We also render Ragopachara and Deeparadhane in a splendid way.”

He further added, “According to Karuna Karunike, King Tipu participated in the pooja. He had offered Salaam during Pradosha Pooja. So Karunakarunika became a tradition. But there is no record of this belief. It’s hearsay. But the pooja which is called Pradosha Pooja or Pradosha Mangalarati has its own religious significance. This is followed from the early days until now. During the pooja, prayer is offered for the welfare of the country. It is said that Tipu had participated in this pooja. This is why the pooja might have gotten the name after it.
