Preparations for Sri Rama Navami begin at Bhadradri Temple

On Friday, women prepare Talambralu at the Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy temple at Bhadrachalam in Kothagudem district.

Bhadrachalam (Kothagudem): Religious rituals related to Sri Rama Navami started Friday at the Sri Seetha Ramachandra Swamy Temple at Bhadrachalam in the district.

The temple premises became colorful with devotees taking part in Vasanthotsavam celebrated in the tradition marking ‘Holi Pournami’. The faithful, especially the women, celebrated the occasion with great devotion and joy as the priests sprinkled holy water and the colors on them.

During the hectic religious activities from morning to night, priests would perform special prayers like ‘Kalasa Puja’ at Chitrakuta Mandapam before starting the process of preparing talambralu.

The wives of the rithviks and a large number of women took part in the ritual of preparing the talambralu at the Mandapam. Talambralu were prepared with turmeric, kumkum, ghee, bukka, gulal, athar, aromatic substances and rice.

Temple Executive Officer B Shivali informed that nearly 150 quintals of rice would be used in the preparation of ‘Akshintalu (talambralu) this year. Thirty quintals of talambralu were prepared on Friday. The process would be completed by the end of March.

The day when the idols of the presiding deities festival were installed at “Beda Mandapam” amid chanting of Keerthanas of Ramadasu and Tumu Laxmi Narasimha Dasu by the temple singers and “Kumbhaharathulu” offered to the deities.

It was followed by ‘Dolotsavam’ and adorning Lord Rama as a consort. Later in the day, ‘Tiuruveedhiseva’ was organized by the priests of the temple.
