A series of rituals were performed, according to the principles of Vaikhanasa Agama, in the auspicious ‘Vrishabha Laganam’ (between 9:50 a.m. and 10:20 a.m.), at the newly constructed Sri Venkateswara Swamy Temple in Rushikonda, here on Wednesday.

The day started with Suprabhatam, Kumbharadhaana, Nivedana, Homam and Maha Purnahuti between 5:30 a.m. and 8:00 a.m. This was followed by various other rituals, including the procession of ‘utsava murthies’ between 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. Later Brahmaghosha, Veda Sattumora, Dwajarohanam and Archaka Bahumanam followed. Nitya Kainkaryama was played between 12 p.m. and 1:30 p.m.

Later that evening, Srinivasa Kalyanam was performed between 4:00 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. and after a series of evening rituals.

Darshan for devotees of the new Sri Padmavathi Temple, Godadevi Sameta Sri Venkateswara Swamy, which opened on Wednesday, will begin on March 24.

At the Maha Kumbhabhishekam feast, which was held on Wednesday, Sri Swaroopanandendra Saraswati Swamy of Visakha Sarada Peetham, Junior Pontiff Sri Swatmanandendra Saraswati Swamy, Minister of Tourism Muttamsetti Srinivas, Chairman of TTD YV Subba Reddy, Board members Directors of TTD P. Ashok Kumar, Malladi Krishna Rao, JEOs Sada Bhargavi, Veerabrahmam, CVSO Gopinath Jatti, District Collector Mallikarjuna Rao, CEO SVBC Suresh Kumar, CE Nageswara Rao, SE Electrical Venkateswarulu, Dy. EO Ramana Prasad and VGO Manohar were present.

The religious staff included Srivari Venugopala Deekshitulu Temple Chief Priest Kiran Deekshitulu, SV Higher Vedic Studies Project Manager Vibhishana Sharma and Agama Vedantam Advisor Vishnubhattacharyulu.

Later, Sri Swaropanandendra Swamy gave a discourse on the ‘Vedas, Agama Sastras’ and the importance of temples.’ He also talked about the activities of Visakha Sarada Peetham.

Mr. Subba Reddy said construction of the temple started with ₹26 crore two years ago to add to the spirituality of Visakhapatnam. The program started with “Ankurarpanam” on March 18 and rituals have been performed by Ritwiks over the past five days. He said Sri Venkateswara temples were being built from Kashmir to Kanyakumari as part of the promotion of Sanathana Hindu Dharma.

The construction of “Srivari Temple” has been completed in Odisha and it would be opened in a few months. Similarly, a temple of Sri Venkateswara, being built at Amaravati, was to be completed in the near future. The temple in Kashmir was being established on a 60-acre site and was to be completed in six months. Similarly, 1,000 temples were to be built over the next two years as part of promoting Hindu dharma in areas inhabited by tribes, fishermen and weaker sections, he added.

The Minister of Tourism has declared that the inauguration of the “Srivari Temple” should be recorded in golden letters in the history of the city of Visakhapatnam.
